For full-time undergraduates at the UW Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma campuses, this coveted prize is offering $5,000, split evenly between two quarters at $2,500 per. The program’s mentees will get one-on-one guidance from experienced professionals who will help them develop into stronger leaders and more prepared for the workforce.
Beginning on August 26, 2024, and ending on October 28, 2024, interested parties may submit their applications for the Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship. All materials, including a reference letter, must be submitted by October 30, 2024, and prospective applicants are expected to choose a mentor. - The Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship is open for applications twice yearly, in the winter quarter and the autumn quarter.
The whole $5,000 scholarship will be paid out across two quarters, with $2,500 allocated for each quarter. As a graduating senior, you have the option to earn a one-time grant of $2,500 for your last quarter if you so want.

To be eligible, you need to be a current undergraduate student at one of the three campuses of the University of Washington (UW) in Washington State: Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma. Enrollment must be maintained at least half-time for the duration of the award.
The total amount you earn from this scholarship may be changed if you are also accepted for other financial prizes that support your leadership efforts. For more personalized assistance, we suggest getting in touch with a member of the Mary Gates Endowment team.
You are expected to fully engage in the leadership project of your choice and maintain full-time enrollment during the duration of the scholarship in order to keep it. One credit is all that’s needed to keep financing going throughout the summer quarter.
A maximum of one Mary Gates scholarship will be awarded each year. You are allowed to apply for numerous requests every quarter, but only one will be funded.
Recipients of the Mary Gates Scholarship in the Past:
You are unable to apply for another Mary Gates scholarship of the same kind if you have previously obtained two.
You are limited to no more than three Research and Leadership Scholarships total. You are only eligible for one Leadership Scholarship, for example, after receiving two Research Scholarships.
